Our accounting professionals know the ins and outs of your industry and are able to help you navigate complicated tax laws, financial reporting requirements, and other accounting issues that may arise.

Horticulturists and landscapers face their own set of challenges, but they also have an advantage with their flexibility in work hours, ability to work remotely and on-site, and access to a wide range of equipment that can be used for various projects. These factors make it difficult for some businesses to find accounting services tailored specifically for them. Our team works with you to create a custom plan that will help your business grow and prosper. We help you achieve success by providing timely, accurate, and efficient financial analysis and reporting.

Contractor services are currently exempt from RST in Ontario. Contractor fees will be subject to HST under the HST system, resulting in an 8% increase in the overall payment for such services. This rise should not be a problem for business clients that are eligible for HST input tax credits. However, it will result in higher costs for consumers and firms that are not eligible for input tax credits.

Although RST does not directly apply to landscape projects, RST on landscaping supplies is a cost to the contractor and is factored into the contractor’s pricing. With the elimination of RST and the implementation of HST, the contractor will be able to recover all HST by claiming an input tax credit in the GST/HST return, lowering total expenses.

Offering discounts as a landscaper can have varied effects on your overall profit. While they can attract more customers and foster loyalty, thereby potentially increasing your sales volume, they can also reduce your profit margins and potentially devalue your services. It is crucial to strike a balanced approach to discounting, ensuring it aligns with your financial strategy to maintain healthy profitability.

As a landscaper, collaborating with an accounting firm can aid in crafting a discount strategy that is both attractive to customers and financially sustainable for your business, helping to optimize your pricing strategy and maintain a positive brand perception. Leveraging professional accounting insights can steer you away from the pitfalls of improper discounting and guide you towards a strategy that bolsters your business growth.
